We’ve mentioned here before that we are mentored by Scott Robert Lim but what I may have failed to mention is that I (michelle) also help him manage his workshops.  I’ve been so incredibly fortunate in my relationships in this industry.  Scott saw potential in me enough to entrust me with adding me to his illustrious posse.

For all our photographer friends and photo enthusiastic clients, I invite you to the next Scott Robert Workshop – Post Processing is an Art Form.  A lesson on turning your photos into art with Photoshop.  Click on this link to register.  It’s a great class at an affordable price ($99).  I would love to see you there!

Now… as if COCO and Scott and my daughter Kaya and life in general doesn’t keep me busy enough.  I am also a leader in our photography community.  I (along with a friend) run the Orange County SMUGMUG.   Oh and guess what??  Thomas and Alfred run the San Gabriel Valley one!

WHAT IS A SMUG?

A SMUG is a place where you can learn, teach and meet up with other photographers who share your passion. It’s also how we can tell you what’s happening in our world and discover what’s happening in yours. SMUGs are a great way to connect with other photographers and add a few weapons to your creative arsenal.  and… smugs are always FREE!

HOW MUCH IS IT TO JOIN?

zero.  it’s free!  it costs nothing to join, nothing to attend, nothing, nothing, nothing

HOW DID THIS START?

smugmug, the company, believes in community and they believe in us, the photographers.  they called out for volunteers to lead and manage the groups in every city.  even international ones!  so i’m in for the OC and Thomas and Alfred run San Gabriel.

DO I HAVE TO BRING ANYTHING?

an open mind, a handshake, a smile, whatever you need to take notes, some biz cards to share (and maybe to use for contests n such), snacks to share with the group and occassionally … a camera.  we’ll announce when you need to bring the clicker in.

The February OC Smug is coming  up if you are interested in checking it out.  This month we are talking about light modifiers with guest speaker Kerry Garrison the man behind Camera Dojo.  Wanna know more?  Just click on this link.
