here’s a topic that i initially thought was a great one for my boudoir clients but really … any of you girls out there might want to hear about it.  today we talk about hair removal.

the girls in my family are blessed with many things.  they are intelligent, pretty, well endowed in the boob area and in many cases are lucky enough to not sweat so much and have little to no visible hair in the areas we girls like to maintain.  i shake my fists at the gods that jipped me on the last of those endowments.  i dunno if it’s coz i was the first creation in the line of cousins and someone screwed up but the parents (and my grandma) used to wonder where i came from considering my chest size doesn’t live up to our clan name and i really am very hairy.  as in, i just shaved my legs and if i got cold in the shower they spring up again like it was already 5 o’clock oh and let’s not even get gross and discuss my capacity to sweat.  so anyway … hair removal …

we’ve all tried shaving.  it’s a cheap and convenient solution although depending on how quickly your hair grows back you might find yourself doing it often.  i also hated the stubbly, shadowy look in the underarm area that i had to deal with on a daily basis as well as the occasional ingrown hair nastiness that would occur.  it was specially annoying during tank top season.

then there’s the creams and depilatories like nair.  those are easy too.  hopefully you’re not allergic but i was never a fan of this solution for some reason.  i think my hesitation was in using such a powerful substance so close to my nether regions.  that and the smell wasn’t appealing

waxing?  inconvenient, can get expensive and i have to grow the hair out before the appointment.  ugh!

and then there was laser hair removal!  i did this 5 years ago on the recommendation of my doctor (who herself, just got it done at the time).  i did both my underarms and bikini area.  this procedure ranks up there as one of the best things i did for myself.  fo’ real!  now i’m not gonna lie.  IT HURT.  i mean, it’s true, my pain threshold is ridiculously low but … it felt like someone snapped a rubber band on my skin.  a lot.  for a while.  we’re talking bikini area!  by the time the doctor was done my hoo-ha felt like it got sunburned and i needed an ice pack pronto.  but it lasted a while.  my underarms are still in great shape but it’s not permanent and some areas grow more hair and at a faster pace (like my sweet spot region) and require periodic maintenance every few years.  so it’s time.  i must revisit the doc for another round of procedures.  the bummer part is that it’s expensive but guess what… we now have groupon!  and i got all 6 procedures for a third of the cost.  SWEET!

so in a few weeks i’ll be treating myself to a round of ibuprofen and some numbing cream and going in for some maintenance.  it’s another step into the direction of bikini season.  last talk was about diets.  next one might have to be on exercise.  yeah yeah i’m vain.  at least i admit it *wink*

till next time!  over and out.
